Encourage Kindness and Good.

Goodness in the world. This morning, on the way to work, from hours 8 to 9 am, my radio station kept interrupting its usual program to announce the latest news of the famous, yet young and immature celebrity, Justin Bieber.
The songs that give me inspiration and motivation every morning so suddenly became unimportant, for the radio announced the same news at least 4 times in one hour. It made me so utterly frustrated that I could not listen to the same rubbish any longer. However, it is no surprise, other channels have been following the same strategical plan of spreading the evil of the day to us. Repeatedly.

I kept changing and changing channels and finally decided to turn it off all together. Then, these thoughts sprung up in my mind: Why does media spread these news of what is essentially evil to us with such rigor? Why does one’s personal actions deserve so much attention? Why do we always pay attention to bad news more than good ones? And finally, is there more bad than good in the world?

I do not know answers to the questions I asked myself. Yet, a quote by Dante finds its way to me and says, Consider your origins: you were not made to live as brutes, but to follow virtue and knowledge. Not at all resisting the importance of news, especially the bad ones, as they are meant to caution us of world’s malfunctions, I do protest the abuse of the power practiced by all sorts of media to create a better ranking for themselves. In this competitive world, morals and virtues can be easily forgotten because we strive for certain goals; for certain heights; for certain rankings. However, only if we could spread the good news as we do the bad ones, maybe we would have created a better world for ourselves.

So, start your day by telling someone something good and remember to Encourage virtue in whatever heart it may have been driven into secrecy and sorrow by the shame and terror of the world. Ignore the obvious, for it is unworthy of the clear eye and the kindly heart.
