Web Marketing Overview
I thought it would be appropriate for this post if I were to go over the main points of web marketing that have been taught to me while working at Blueprint for the last 4 months. I can’t get every detailed in a short blog post but I will give an overview of the major aspects of web marketing that I have become familiar with over my time here.
The Main Points of Web Marketing
SEO
Optimizing a site for Google is important! Be sure to use the best possible keywords to rank for and use those keywords appropriately. Making sure not to spam the page with a ton of keyword use is crucial. Also, using all of the correct tags and getting the keywords into the tags is important. Even putting keywords into the file names of pictures can make a difference. The key to SEO is to take your time, do the research, and make sure its done right.
Content
Content should not be spam! Original content is best for a site, even better than having the keywords tons of times in the text. Content should read well and be informative. Not only does the content need to satisfy the qualifications of Google as it scrapes the web, but the content needs to satisfy the actual people reading it. Always write content for the real human readers to be able to read and enjoy.
Backlinks
Backlinks are important and can help your site but bad backlinks links can ruin you. Its easy to get a million spammy links but that will actually hurt your webpage in the long run when Google sees all the spam and doesn’t rank your site anymore. Quality backlinks from reputable sites are harder to get but do help your website. So take your time and remember quality not quantity is key.
Social Media
Social media does not give your page backlinks and more friends do not boost your Google ranking but social does drive traffic to your site. Having a strong presence on social media is a great way to reach out to actual people. Social helps humanize your marketing effort and increases interest and traffic to your website, this will boost its rankings over time. So good social indirectly will make a difference.
There is so much more but I could never cover it all in such a short post. So there is web marketing in 400 words or less.
