New Aged SEO

The World Wide Web has grown exponentially over the years since the first computer in 1936, and with this growth webmasters and content managers realized, in the mid-1990s, that they had to do more than just set up web sites. There had to be a system of some sort to improve and promote a web site which will increase the number of visitors. This was the basic idea behind Search Engine Optimization (or SEO). Naturally, times have changed, so SEO had to change with it.

White Hat/Black Hat

Due to the rules and obligations behind the SEO practice, SEO managers were divided into two categories; White Hat and Black Hat. Obviously “White Hat” referred to those who followed the basic do’s and don’ts of SEO, whereas those who were considered “Black Hat” would work to find ways around the basic rules. Over of the years, of course, SEO has been stretched, twisted, and reformed so much that the “White Hat”/”Black Hat” coining was hung up. While the White and Black Hat coining is not used anymore that doesn’t mean there aren’t those out there who find loopholes and shortcuts around SEO.

Keyword Density

Even in the past, keywords played a part in the early practice of SEO, providing an easy and practical way for people to find a web site. Nowadays, keywords still hold their weight, however SEO managers have something to worry about; Keyword Stuffing. The overuse of a keyword or using words that are similar, or simply using way too many keywords for a page is considered to be keyword stuffing, and doing this can mark a site as spam, resulting in getting bad rankings and, worse case scenario, getting blocked.

Content is King

Google has been a pretty fundamental cause for many of the changes in SEO, a major change is with content. When SEO started off, content wasn’t as important as keywords and backlinks, but today having bad content can drastically affect a web sites rankings.
